Police hunt for burglar who broke out of prison

A BURGLAR has gone on the run after breaking out of prison.

Simon Kierans, 33, absconded from HMP Kirkham prison, near Preston, on Thursday.

Formerly of Industry Street, Rochdale, he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of burglary and making false representa­tions.

He has links to Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

Kierans is white, 5ft 9in, slim, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He has a tattoo on his left leg of the name ‘Paddy’, as well as scars on his nose, right eyebrow, head and right upper arm.

Anyone with informatio­n is advised not to approach him, but contact police immediatel­y.

A Lancashire Police spokesman, said: “We are appealing for informatio­n leading to the arrest of Simon Kierans.

“Kierans is wanted after absconding from HMP Kirkham.

“If you see Kierans, do not approach him, but instead contact police.”

Anyone with informatio­n can call police on 101, quoting log reference 1418 of January 11.
