Walker’s joy over Curzon return

CURZON ASHTON have been given a boost ahead of today’s home game with Chorley as former captain Sam Walker arrived on loan from Stockport County.

Walker skippered Curzon in the backto-back promotion campaigns that saw the club rise to the National League North, and he’s delighted to be back at the Tameside Stadium.

“It feels great to be back. From the minute I walked back through the doors, seeing all the old faces, it feels like I’ve never been away,” he said.

“The welcome back I’ve received has been very humbling and something that makes the club so special. I’m looking forward to playing and winning as many games as possible for this great club.”

Manager John Flanagan added: “We know Sam’s qualities and what he is going to bring to us and I’m sure we’re both going enjoy our time together.”

Top of the table SALFORD CITY are also in action today as they welcome 16th placed AFC Telford United to the Peninsula Stadium.

Salford could extend their lead their at the top to eight points, as second placed Harrogate Town and third placed Brackley Town are both playing in the FA Trophy.

STOCKPORT COUNTY are in FA Trophy action too, heading to Kiddermins­ter Harriers in the second round of the competitio­n.
