Zinchenko’s praise for ‘legend’ Aguero

- By RICHARD FAY

IT was another display of sheer class from Sergio Aguero.

The Blues’ record goalscorer netted his seventh hat-trick in the Premier League to guide City to a 3-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday.

And team-mate Aleks Zinchenko was one of many admirers blown away by the performance.

Zinchenko was making his first league start under Pep Guardiola but was instead keen to praise ‘legend’ Aguero after the victory.

It was a humble gesture from Zinchenko and another clear sign of his growing maturity in this City side. The 21-year-old produced an assured defensive display at fullback.

And while City fans were full of praise for the young Ukrainian, Zinchenko didn’t want his cameo to take any credit away from Aguero’s perfect hat-trick.

“I am very happy for Sergio – he is a life legend, you know? We are so happy with him,” he said.

“Yeah, I am so happy and of course it is very important the three points for us after Liverpool.

“When it was 2-1 it was a little bit dangerous because it was not a good result for us. But we scored more and this was our game.”

Aguero continued his remarkable scoring record against Newcastle – he now has 14 goals against them in the Premier League. But the Argentine ace didn’t want to take anything away from a strong team performance.

“In the Premier League all games are difficult but, obviously, against Newcastle I have a really good record,” Aguero said. “That sometimes happens against teams and I am really happy for the goals, but especially for the three points.”
