CORONATION Street star Shayne Ward and his fiancee Sophie Austin have reacted to talk that they had a bust-up at the National Television Awards. Corrie favourite Shayne and former Hollyoaks actress Sophie both took to Twitter to dispel rumours that the couple had been seen rowing at the awards ceremony held in London.
Clayton actor Shayne told fans he was spending a day off with his fiancee and daughter Willow-May after attending the ceremony at the O2 – and he posted a snap of his face looking very perplexed.
He said: “Interesting read this morning, News to us baby @ SophieAustin1 Anyway ready to Enjoy a day off with my girls.”
And Sophie, who tweeted that she had a ‘great night’ at the awards, replied: “News to us anyway hurry up we are hungry #itslunchtime.”
Shayne, who plays Aidan Connor in the ITV1 soap, and Sophie, who played killer nurse Lindsey Butterfield in Hollyoaks, announced their engagement on Boxing Day by sharing an image of a diamond encrusted ring on her engagement finger.
Sharing the image on social media the thrilled bride and groom-to-be wrote: “#MrsWardtobe.”
Their happy news came a year after they welcomed their daughter.
Former X Factor winner Shayne joined Corrie in 2015 as love rat factory boss Aidan. And Sophie, who starred in the ITV drama Tina and Bobby last year, played twisted Lindsey for three years.
Shayne, the 2016 winner of Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards, will be leaving his role as cheating Underworld chief Aidan this spring.
