THERE is only one week to go before Greater Manchester business leaders gather at a new forwardthinking event for 2018.

The first GMBW breakfast event will take a look at the ‘Future of Work’ and is being held on February 1 at Manchester Airport.

Sponsored by the University of Salford and MAG Property, it will include breakfast, a panel discussion and early-morning networking for around 100 attendees.

The event will include a guest panellist alongside regional leaders from across the sectors.

So why are we kicking it off with this topic? Businesses today faces a real challenge to keep up with changing technologies, customer demands and even employee expectations.

Constant change is the new normal and the right workplace can play a massive part in helping businesses to thrive in this new environment.

With our leading panel of industry experts, we will discuss their understanding of occupiers’ requirements and debate what is important to a new generation of workers to create the office of tomorrow.

We will also discuss the increasing role of productivity in the workplace and the growing importance which sustainability plays within the corporate agenda.

Panelist professor David Spicer, Dean of the University of Salford Business School, said: “At the University of Salford we understand the changing world of technology how this impacts the demands of business. Through our ICZ programme we work closely with industry to help produce graduates with the skills required in a future work environment.

“This includes digital skills and the open-mindedness and flexibility to be able to move from role to role, which features in the modern workplace.

“I’m looking forward to the debate with the rest of the panel at this roundtable, where we will address issues which are key to the future of the Northern Powerhouse and the economy of the whole of the UK in a post-Brexit world.”

The discussion will be chaired by Adam Jupp, head of external affairs at Manchester Airport.

Discussing the business benefits of being based at the airport Lynda Shillaw, CEO MAG Property, added: “Major airports like Manchester offer fast links to key centres around the world and provide a great option for businesses to locate. The expansion of airport-linked commercial facilities makes them a key part of 21st Century urban development.”
