No Real chance of a Ronaldo return

JOSE Mourinho expects Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid.

The Champions League winners’ form has nose-dived in recent months and Madrid are currently fourth in La Liga, 19 points behind champions elect Barcelona.

Ronaldo has been repeatedly linked with a return to Manchester since he left in a world record £80m deal in 2009, and speculation has intensified over a possible departure in this transfer window.

Mourinho managed Ronaldo for three years at the Bernabeu and was reluctant to pour fuel on the fire as they struggle under current coach Zinedine Zidane. “I think with the moment Real Madrid is having now I think I should be the last one to add some fuel to the fire,” Mourinho said. “Madrid is on fire, the results are not good and it’s a club where I worked three years, I cared about the club, I am the last one to add fire.

“So to put some water on the fire, I would say Cristiano is the kind of player every manager wants and every club wants, but only one manager and one club can have – Zidane and Real Madrid, that’s my feeling.”

United signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal earlier this week and Mourinho insists the Chilean is ‘one of the best attacking players in the world’.

“Because he’s in England for quite a long time, I think everybody knows the player he is,” Mourinho added.
