Pervert in prison after attacking little girl, 4
A PERVERT who sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl as she slept - and then claimed he thought the victim was ‘an 18-year-old babysitter’ - has been jailed.
Police described Conrad Asa Pritchard’s excuse as ‘absurd’ after the 22-year-old, from Salford, was jailed for 32 months.
Pritchard crept into the girl’s bedroom in the early hours. He was found half naked lying next to the youngster - pretending to be asleep - by the child’s horrified mother. After Pritchard hurriedly fled the room, the girl told her mother what had happened.
He was found hiding under a bed in another room before being chased out of the house.
Following his arrest, he claimed he was so drunk he didn’t realise anyone was in the bed. He then claimed he thought the little girl was an 18-year-old babysitter.
A judge rejected his explanation as ‘inconceivable’.
Det Con Paul Davies said: “Conrad Pritchard targeted a young girl as she slept so he could satisfy his own appalling urges. He deliberately targeted his victim and since the incident has continued to show very little remorse for his actions.
“What he did that night left his victim understandably distraught and we are continuing to provide her with support from specially trained officers.
“His attempt to justify what happened by claiming that he thought a four-year-old girl was actually 18 is absurd and he is now where he deserves to be.”
Pritchard, of Isaac Close, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court after being convicted of sexual assault of a child under 13.
Pritchard pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing before magistrates. He must serve eight weeks on top of the 32 months sentence for breaching a suspended sentence for shoplifting at Boots in Eccles.
