City boss in line to take award for a fifth month

-

PEP Guardiola is in the running for a fifth consecutive Manager of the Month award.

The City boss has already made history this season by winning four in a row, taking the prize in every month but August when Huddersfield’s David Wagner got the honour.

Guardiola has been recognised again for his efforts in January, during which the team won three of their four league games, albeit losing to an English team for the first time since April in the 4-3 thriller at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is also up for the award, as well as Jose Mourinho, David Moyes, Mauricio Pochettino, Carlos Carvahal and Eddie Howe.

Wins over Arsenal and Chelsea for Bournemouth see them represented in the Player of the Month nominations, Callum Wilson makes the list after scoring in three of their four games.

Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero are both looking to win that award for the first time this season.

The Argentine scored five goals over the month including a hat-trick against Newcastle to put clear water between himself and Raheem Sterling in the club scoring charts, while De Bruyne continued his stellar campaign with more standout performances.

Also on the six-man shortlist are Spurs pair Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, and Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard.

Leroy Sane claimed the monthly prize in October.
