Kylie swaps arenas for clubs on mini tour
POP PRINCESS WILL GIG AT CITY’S GORILLA
POP superstar Kylie Minogue has announced a string of five intimate European gigs - including a date in Manchester.
More accustomed to selling out arena shows, the Aussie icon will perform a one-off gig at Gorilla, on Whitworth Street West, next month.
The venue has a capacity of 550, a fraction of the 21,000 capacity Manchester Arena that she has performed at more times than any other venue in the world, including a sold-out five night residency in 2011.
The show - along with gigs in London, Barcelona, Paris and Berlin - will be a rare chance for fans to get up close and personal with the singer.
The mini tour comes in support of her forthcoming album, Golden, which she recorded in Nashville, inspiring the new country sound heard on lead single Dancing.
Announcing the shows, Kylie said: “I’m so excited to perform songs from my new album Golden in these iconic European clubs. Each of these venues is very special and - just as I found making the new album in Nashville to be so energizing - these shows will be new, intimate and fun.
“I just can’t wait to bring these new songs to life and, of course, throw in a few surprises for my fans.”
Kylie has form for surprising fans with intimate shows. In 2013, she performed two gigs at the 2,000 capacity Manchester Academy at a week’s notice.
The tour kicks off at London’s Café De Paris, on Tuesday March 13, and comes to Manchester on Wednesday March 14. It will also visit Barcelona’s Bikini Club (March 16), Café de la Danse in Paris (March 18), and Berlin’s Berghain nightclub (March 20).
Tickets are available to fans who preorder the new album from Kylie’s official store. All fans who have preordered the album or registered interest before that time will be sent a unique pre-sale codes and an access link from 11am on Tuesday February 13.
Tickets will then go on sale at 10am on Thursday February 15. Golden is released on April 6.
