THE final piece of the Corn Exchange Manchester puzzle is set to open next week, completing its three-year renovation into a food and leisure hub.

The Roomzzz Aparthotel will take its first guests from Monday, offering a choice of designer suites, an on-site gym, and a 24-hour shop and concierge.

The launch also unveils listed parts of the building unseen by the public for almost 20 years – details which were covered up in 1999 due to heavy restoration under the building’s former guise as the Triangle Shopping Centre.

Grand wrought iron stairways now are now returned to their former glory, while stunning antique tiles give a hint of the former decadence which once engulfed this building.

In total, Roomzzz has sympathetically installed 114 apartments, in a variety of shapes and sizes, across all four floors of the Grade II listed site.

The rooms – which all have their own quirky shapes due to the listed building – boast spectacular ceiling heights, with some offering views over the Cathedral and Exchange Square.

Each apartment contains comfy king size beds, living areas, en suites, free laundry, access to the on-site gym, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Higher grade rooms, like the £209 per night Design Suite, offer more luxurious details like the freestanding bath.

The Roomzzz Aparthotel’s walls are adorned with work by artist Katie Edwards, who created bespoke pieces inspired by Manchester’s rich history of music, industry, and culture. The opening marks the eighth aparthotel in the Roomzzz portfolio, which includes their other Manchester site on Princess Street.

The luxury hotel joins the 14 restaurants which have opened in the Corn Exchange over the past few years, including Mowgli, Gino D’Campo: My Restaurant, Wahaca, Cabana, Cosy Club, Banyan Bar & Restaurant, Alston Bar & Beef, Pho, Vapiano, Salvi’s and Tampopo.

The Corn Exchange transformation has been a collaboration between Aviva Investors UK Property Fund, Queensberry Architects.

Stuart Harris, from Queensbury, said: “We had a huge amount of interest in the hotel element of The Corn Exchange.

“Its listed nature, along with its layout, has offered the opportunity to create quirky, interesting but modern and 5plus bedrooms in a stunning iconic building.

“The whole ethos and vision is to give The Corn Exchange back its mojo by enhancing the building’s character and features, giving activity to all three sides so it re-engages with all of the wonderful buildings and offers around it.”
