Hill tells his Rochdale players: ‘Put focus on Fleetwood, not Spurs’

- FOOTBALL By SHELDAN KEAY

ROCHDALE boss Keith Hill says his side need to be fully focused on this weekend’s fixture against Fleetwood Town.

Dale welcome Fleetwood to the Crown Oil Arena, one week before Tottenham Hotspur arrive in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Hill isn’t looking ahead to that game just yet, and has his attention firmly on today’s match with Fleetwood, hoping his side can continue their battle against relegation.

“There is no bigger challenge than this weekend’s game. There is a siege mentality in the group at the moment and they have to keep responding to the challenge,” he said.

“The spirit is good in the dressing room but it will be a difficult fixture against Fleetwood for us. The games are always competitive and Uwe Rosler is doing a great job there.”

OLDHAM ATHLETIC boss Richie Wellens admits getting something out of today’s game with Blackburn Rovers would give his team a big advantage when they then face fellow strugglers MK Dons on Tuesday.

The Latics make the trip to Ewood Park for the game against the promotion hopefuls, with around 2,000 Oldham fans expected to be in attendance. Latics are underdogs in the game, and it’s set to be a busy period for them as they then welcome MK Dons to Boundary Park on Tuesday.

Wellens insists his focus is solely on Blackburn for the time being, and is well aware how big of a boost a victory today would be.

“If we beat Blackburn or get something out of the game then it puts us in a strong frame of mind going into Tuesday’s game,” he said. “If we win and MK Dons don’t win in their game, then it’s like we’ve already won against MK Dons before we’ve even played them because we have three points people didn’t expect us to get.” BURY will try to keep up their mini resurgence under Ryan Lowe when they head to Valley Parade to face Bradford City.

Bury remain bottom of the League One table but since Lowe has been put in charge they are unbeaten in three games.

They head to a Bradford side that are currently without a manager, after Stuart McCall was sacked on Monday.

WIGAN ATHLETIC will try to extend their lead at the top of the table when they make the trip to Southend United.

In the Championship, BOLTON WANDERERS welcome Fulham to the Macron Stadium.
