THE father of a bride-to-be was brutally attacked during his future son-in-law’s stag do after he tried to break up a mass brawl outside The Printworks.

His loved ones – who have not released his full name through fear of repercussions – have appealed for help to find those responsible for the horrific assault in Manchester city centre.

Gary is in a critical condition in hospital. His daughter fears he will not be able to walk her down the aisle at her wedding next month.

Gary, from Somerset, was in Manchester with his daughter’s fiancé and friends for the stag do on Saturday.

In the early hours, he tried to break up a fight outside The Printworks.

Police said 15 people are thought to have been involved in the brawl at around 2am.

Gary was punched in the face and knocked unconscious. It is thought that he struck his head on the ground during the attack and, despite emergency surgery, he has not woken up since.

The 58-year-old was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where he remains in a critical condition.

A second man, in his 20s, was also taken to hospital with bruising and cuts.

Gary’s daughter, Amie, has been at his bedside since he was admitted to hospital.

She has appealed for witnesses to the fight to come forward. She was on her hen night in Bristol when her mother received a call about Gary being attacked in Manchester.

Amie, 26, is due to marry fiancé Munya, 27, in four weeks’ time.

Amie said: “He is really unwell at the moment. We have not left his bedside we have got all the family around.

“It is extreme what he looks like now. He doesn’t look like my father.

“I am devastated. It is absolutely disgusting what has happened to him.”

She added: “It is not our world this behaviour. They were supposed to be having a nice weekend away for the stag do. It is still not real. I haven’t even thought about the wedding. I want him to be there walking me up the aisle.

“He is the funniest man and the hardest working man I know. He is just amazing.”

Amie, who appealed for help with her fiancé and brother, asked for anyone with video footage or photographs from the area at the time to contact police.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both have been released under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 190 of February 10.

Information can also be reported to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
