Sex predator jailed for grooming teenage boy
A PAEDOPHILE who ‘violated a boy for his own perverse pleasure’ has been jailed.
Frank Logan was already the subject of a sexual harm prevention order when he started to groom a young teenager he met in Tameside last year.
Following a trial, the 55-year-old was found guilty of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
He was jailed for six years at Minshull Street Crown Court. The court heard that on a number of occasions Logan took the boy to his flat, where he would smoke cannabis with him before ‘pestering’ him to engage in sexual activity. Following a conviction for committing sexual activity with a child in 2014, Logan was made the subject of an order preventing him from having contact with any children without a parent’s consent and knowledge of his previous offending. Logan, 55, of Baguley Crescent, Middleton, tried to conceal his crimes from the authorities, but the boy bravely told police Det Sgt Robert Pullan what had happened to him. Det Sgt Robert Pullan, of the Phoenix Tameside child sexual exploitation team, said: “Frank Logan violated this boy for his own perverse pleasure.
“He knew exactly what he was doing.
“This is not the first time he has been convicted of these types of offences – and he did it to satisfy his own selfish sexual desires.
“By coming forward to report this despicable man, the victim has bravely helped others from potentially being harmed.
“He has shown courage throughout and has been instrumental in Logan’s conviction.
“I hope this result has showed that you can trust police and partners to take these reports seriously. I also hope this provides him with some justice when coming to terms with these horrible crimes.”
