Anger over plans to axe nurseries...

-

SALFORD council is planning to close five nurseries which care for some of the most deprived children in the city. Here’s what you’re saying on our Facebook page...

Salford council can’t afford the £1.5m for nurseries. The same council that repeatedly bails out Salford Red Devils for multiple millions.

Andy Varden

Salford council should be ashamed. It hasn’t given a minute’s thought for the children. Absolutely disgusting.

Craig Ratcliffe

Shocked to see that one of the best nurseries in the area is closing down. It’s such a shame. The staff at this nursery have worked there for years, there isn’t a big staff turn-over, which to me speaks volumes. They were all brilliant with my little boy.

Chantelle Donley

My daughter goes to one of these nurseries and loves it. She doesn’t go because I’m a woman with low income – she goes because it’s the best nursery I viewed by a mile. It’s not the closest or even the cheapest, but the staff are beyond fantastic.

Amy Houghton

Manchester did this around six years ago and hundreds of amazing workers lost their jobs. The buildings were bought by private day nurseries.
