FASHIONISTAS at a leading clothes website will be swapping their trendy clobber for running shoes when they tackle the Great Manchester Run.

The team at boohoo will be raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust when they lace up for the Simplyhealth event in May.

Bosses say the charity ‘resonates’ with staff, as many of their customers are teenagers.

A spokesman for the company said: “boohoo have a strong partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust, we feel that this resonates with our customers, as many of them are teenagers themselves.”

A total of 76 members of staff from the Manchester-based online clothing company will be taking on the running challenge.

They include employees from the Northern Quarter headquarters, Burnley distribution centre and customer service centre.

Staff at boohoo have raised a whopping total of £74,995.91 since they began a fundraising partnership with the cancer charity in 2016.

The spokesman added: “The boohoo charity partnership enables boohoo staff to raise money for charities of their choice through a range of events, this is just one of them.”

The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity in the UK which is dedicated to helping young people who have been diagnosed with cancer. The charity raises money for specialist units in hospitals to treat teenagers with cancer.

The Great Manchester Run will take place on Sunday, May 20.

A total of 30,000 will run together on the day along the streets of Manchester for the half marathon and 10k events.

The half marathon event passes by both of Manchester’s iconic football grounds, the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford.

According to the event website, the course will provide ‘plenty of atmosphere,’ with ‘bands on the run, charity cheer points, musical entertainment and thousands of spectators shouting your name.”
