Rebels and Hatters set to do battle for derby clash pride

- NON-LEAGUE By SHELDAN KEAY @MENSports

FC UNITED and STOCKPORT COUNTY will battle it out for bragging rights when the two local rivals meet at Broadhurst Park this afternoon.

FC United are in 12th position in the National League North table, and could go level on points with 10th placed Stockport if they come out on top, while the Hatters could move as high as eighth if they get the win.

Jim Gannon’s men were dominant winners when the two teams met in the reverse fixture this season, picking up a 4-1 victory at Edgeley Park.

Top of the table SALFORD CITY will try to return to winning ways when they head to North Street to face Alfreton Town.

The league leaders have had their lead at the top cut to just two points after they suffered a 1-0 defeat at York City last week.

Alfreton are 13th in the table, and Salford will look to do the league double over their opponents after a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Peninsula Stadium in November.

CURZON ASHTON will hope to build on their midweek win over Telford United when they host York City at the Tameside Stadium.

The 3-0 win over Telford saw Curzon move up to 17th place, three points clear of the relegation zone, while today’s opponents York are in sixth place.

In the National League, MACCLESFIELD TOWN head to the Electrical Services Stadium for a top of the table clash against Aldershot Town. League leaders Macclesfield are one point clear of second placed Aldershot.
