Swinton ready to get back into action

- RUGBY LEAGUE By TOM BRAMWELL @MENSports

AFTER an extended break because of the postponement of last week’s fixture against Rochdale at Heywood Road, Stuart Littler’s SWINTON side should be well-rested for the visit of Batley Bulldogs in the Betfred Championship, which will be held at Salford’s AJ Bell Stadium.

HORNETS themselves should finally be able to get their season underway on Monday evening, with their match against Dewsbury Rams being switch to a 7.30pm kick-off because of the Rochdale versus Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup clash tomorrow afternoon.

LEIGH travel to Barrow Raiders looking to follow up last week’s victory over Batley with another strong performance.

The Cumbrian side held Toronto Wolfpack to an unlikely 8-8 draw in challenging conditions last time out.

OLDHAM kick off their League 1 campaign away to Whitehaven tomorrow afternoon – and coach Scott Naylor has two new faces to choose from when picking the team for their first competitive fixture of the year.

Former Huddersfield Giants youngster Zach McComb has signed a one-year deal after an extended trial with the club, having spent last season with amateurs Siddal, and the club have also added his wing partner dung that time, Ben West.

“We had a few trialists on board and we had to make some difficult decisions,” explained Naylor.

“We decided Zach and Ben were what we were looking for.”
