angel’s euro delight!
UNITED have added Angel Gomes and Ethan Hamilton to their Champions League squad.
Gomes, 17, became the youngest United player to make his debut since Duncan Edwards against Crystal Palace last season – and was treated to an FA Cup cameo at Yeovil last month.
Hamilton, 18, replaced Paul Pogba in the matchday squad for the weekend cup win at Huddersfield, where he was included in the matchday 18 for the first time.
Gomes was also named on the bench.
United have added the pair to their ‘B list’, whereby a player qualifies if he was born on or after January 1, 1996, and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday.
Gomes and Hamilton’s promotions come after the United U19s were ejected from the Uefa Youth League in a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday afternoon.
United bowed out of the FA Youth Cup at the first hurdle on penalties against Derby County in December but the U18s are top of their league.
Scotland youth international Hamilton was told he would be involved in first-team training this term towards the end of last season. Jose Mourinho has involved several teenagers in senior sessions this campaign and confirmed last week the exciting Dutch forward Tahith Chong had participated in recent sessions.
