Soap stars hit charity bullseye

CORONATION stars swapped Rovers Return celebrity tournament at Street the for a darts Hotel Football.

Shayne Ward, Richard Hawley and Simon Gregson showed off their darts-throwing prowess against fellow soap star Ashley Taylor Dawson, who plays love rat Darren Osborne in the Channel Four show Hollyoaks.

Richard, who plays Shayne’s on-screen dad Johnny Connor, Steps singer Lee Latchford-Evans and former Liverpool player and manager Roy Evans also headed to Stretford for the tournament, organised by Corrie favourite Shayne and AFC Wimbledon’s record goalscorer Kevin Cooper.

Shayne beat Simon in their round and Manchester actor Ashley emerged as the overall winner after taking on former world number one darts player John Lowe in a nail-biting final. Kevin said: “It was really good fun. Some of the celebritie­s were out of their comfort zone because they hadn’t played darts for a long time.”

Each celeb chose their own walkout music for the tournament and hilariousl­y Simon, who plays hapless Street Cars boss Steve McDonald in Corrie, picked the Steptoe and Son theme tune.

Champ Ashley picked Eminem’s Lose Yourself.

Shayne, who plays former Underworld factory boss Aidan Connor, was joined at the event by his stunning fiancee Sophie Austin, who turned heads in a pair of eye-catching sunshine yellow heels with a matching clutch.

The tournament, which included an auction for Cancer Research, was hailed such a success Clayton actor Shayne and his friends are now hoping to host more.
