BLUEDOT – the summer music, culture and science festival that takes place at Jodrell Bank Observatory – has added extra names to the 2018 line-up.

Cult indie band Slowdive join the line-up, reuniting after parting ways in the 1990.

Electronic and dance music DJ and producer George FitzGerald is also added to the bill, along with Crazy P and their eclectic blend of house, disco and soul. Manc party-starters Bugged Out – who have played host to Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Erol Alkan and more – are set to take over the Mission Control stage for a dance extravaganza.

Bluedot has also revealed that a handful of artists will be presenting performances created especially for the festival – with funk and soul legend Craig Charles performing a Space Funk Odyssey on the Mission Control stage, while family favourite brass-and-bass dons Dub Pistols present an Outta Space DJ set.

On the culture side of the line-up, Scissor Sister Ana Matronic will DJ over the weekend, and also host The Future Then panel talks – a series of one-off conversations inspired by the 50th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Other additions include otherwordly audio-visual experiences from Science in the House, live coding movement Algorave, rising stars Boy Azooga, the mysterious Cruel World, dreamers Plastic Mermaids, Brolincollaborator Fwar, Warmduscher, Banana Hill DJs, Re-TROS, Amber Arcades, The Long Now, Little Cub, Cosmic Strip, Drahla, Tomorrow We Sail, Chaouche, Late Night Tales DJs, Outliers, Acid Mother’s Temple and more.

This year’s festival will also act as a hub of educational talks, lectures and discussions for the whole family.

The festival will be headlined by The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Future Islands and The Halle on the huge four-day bill.

Full weekend camping tickets are now on sale and start from £159. The full bluedot programme – which takes place from Thursday, July 19 to Sunday, July 22 – will be announced in the coming months. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit discoverthebluedot.com
