Aguero blow . . . and a salute to Rash

BLOW FOR CITY AS AGUERO LIKELY TO BE SIDELINED FOR TWO WEEKS WITH KNEE INJURY

- By RICHARD FAY

CITY will be without star striker Sergio Aguero for tonight’s trip to face Stoke in the Premier League.

The Argentine forward revealed he has suffered ‘discomfort’ in his left knee, which will leave him sidelined for approximately two weeks.

Aguero suffered a knock during Saturday’s first-team training session and will now be treated by club doctors as he prepares to make a full recovery.

City’s record scorer took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to post an update on his most recent setback.

“During yesterday’s training I had a discomfort on my left knee,” Aguero wrote.

“The club’s doctors told me I’ll be back with the team in approximately two weeks. “Now it’s time for a full recovery!” Aguero will miss City’s trip to the Bet365 stadium, however, he is expected to make a full recovery during the upcoming international break. The 29-year-old is currently sitting on 199 goals and will have to wait a few more weeks before he goes for a double century at the club.

Gabriel Jesus is expected to lead the line for City as they prepare to face Stoke this evening.

The Brazilian striker started his first match in more than two months during the midweek defeat to Basel, but he did find the net in the 2-1 loss. City will be back in action when they travel to face Everton on March 31 – with their following match the potential title decider at home to United on April 7.

PHIL Foden has had a phenomenal year, but even he was taken aback when he saw his dad cry for the first time!

The City teenager made everyone sit up and take notice when he starred for the Blues in a pre-season friendly against United, earning lavish praise from Pep Guardiola.

His performance and the way he trained saw him promoted to the first -team squad at the start of the season.

Then he helped England win the Under-17 World Cup, scoring in the final against Spain and being named as player of the tournament.

It did not end there, as he made his City debut as a sub against Feyenoord in the Champions League, then his first start away to Shakhtar Donetsk, before making his Premier League bow against Spurs, and then appearing in the Carabao Cup final.

But it was his achievement with England which had his dad blubbering, back in his Stockport home.

“My mum was at the game and she was crying, she couldn’t believe it. I was happy that I’d made her proud,” Foden told Dugout.

“I Facetimed my dad after and even he was in tears – I had never seen him cry before. I feel really lucky because I’m only 17, and to say I’ve won the World Cup already – it’s everyone’s dream.”

Foden again started in the Champions League in midweek, this time against Basel, replacing David Silva in the team.

But he revealed how much help he has been receiving from the Spanish wizard and his midfield partner Kevin de Bruyne.

“When I made my Premier League debut, Kev was giving me a lot of advice,” he said. “He came over to me straight away and told me to be confident and enjoy it, and that’s what I did.

“To come on against Tottenham and play against Dele Alli and players like that was a dream come true.

“David is just a magician. To watch him every day, and watch what they do, you learn a lot.”

Foden grew up in Edgeley. Close to Stockport County’s ground, but he has been a Blues fan ever since he was scouted by the club as a fiveyear-old. “I’m a City fan because at my primary school, which was called Bridgehall Primary School, a coach came in called Terry John and told me to do some things round a cone,” he said. “He gave me a City card and said ‘We want to sign you.’ My mum was a City fan, and she said ‘Why don’t we go to the games?’ so I did and became a City fan. I remember Elano and Micah Richards, who came through the academy and was one of my favourite players.”

My dad was even in tears after. I have never seen him cry before
