PLANS for a huge indoor adventure centre have been given the go-ahead.

Developer Urban Legacies has been given permission to extend and convert part of the DW Sports and Fitness Centre building near the Trafford Centre.

The building, a stone’s throw from the Chill Factore, currently has indoor and outdoor football pitches, a gym, an indoor trampoline park – and 740 parking spaces.

Developers will now set about transforming the northern part of the building.

A new indoor adventure centre – named Project Canyon – will be built.

There will be caving, canoeing, surfing, ice and rock climbing and zip wires.

The huge adventure centre will be around 124,000 sq ft in size.

A new mezzanine level will double the building’s height to 18m.

Planning chiefs in Trafford approved the plans, drawn up by architect Benoy.
