Second traffic warden caught on yellow lines

A SECOND parking warden has been caught parking on double yellows while issuing fines to other drivers.

Jason Simons captured the warden flouting parking laws after he fell foul of a fine during what he says was an urgent trip to the bank in Didsbury Village on the afternoon of February 27.

And he was outraged when he discovered the warden’s double standards.

Jason, who had parked his Range Rover opposite Barclays on Wilmslow Road while he ran in to report his card missing, saw from the window he’d been ticketed.

But when he saw where the warden was parked he went outside to confront him.

The M.E.N. reported last week how another warden had parked his moped on double yellows, also while issuing a ticket in Didsbury.

Jason said: “I said I didn’t have a problem with being fined but questioned why he was parked on double yellows. He told me he was allowed because it was his job.

“He was also parked dangerously on the edge of a side road on the wrong side of the road, at the edge of the junction. They also pulled away after being challenged on the wrong side of the road which is dangerous driving.”

A Manchester council spokesman said: “It is not acceptable for any vehicle to be parked on double yellow lines and our contractor NSL has been given very clear instructions about how officers must conduct themselves while they are on duty. It is extremely disappointing for a second incident to be brought to our attention and this issue will be dealt with.

“In the meantime, I would encourage anyone who sees an enforcement vehicle parking irresponsibly in Manchester to please contact us via www.manchester. gov.uk/parking, so that we can investigate.”

The MEN has contacted NSL for a comment.
