Beast Rom monsters Liverpool’s defence

-

ROMELU Lukaku calls himself the sergeant, but Jesse Lingard has another name for the United striker.

“He’s a beast,” said Lingard, after watching the Belgian international monster Liverpool’s defence. On a day when Lukaku failed to get on the score-sheet, he was on plenty of observers’ lips.

According to Graeme Souness, he’ll be on Dejan Lovren’s mind for a long-time coming, claiming the Liverpool centre-back ‘will have nightmares about him’.

Souness’ fellow Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher, came up with another way to describe the £75m man. “He’s a machine, Lukaku, the size of him,” he said, when bemoaning the manner in which Lovren was bullied in the build up to United’s two goals.

“There is nothing wrong with accepting that someone is stronger than you in a game. Don’t fight someone who is stronger than you.”

Saturday was a day when Lukaku’s physical attributes were emphatically displayed.

“It was non-stop running all game,” said Lingard.

“He chases balls down and chases lost causes.”
