In his criticism of Reds boss Mourinho

not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me because the most important thing for me is to win – if he was coached by Frank he would learn how to lose because he lost every game.

“If you go to his numbers and how many matches he played with me last season, I would say probably he’s in the top five players with most matches in the two seasons.”

De Boer was sacked after five games in September and Palace are still languishing in the relegation zone under Roy Hodgson.

The former Ajax and Internazionale manager was appearing on BT Sport for their coverage of Palace’s weekend defeat at Chelsea, when he questioned Mourinho’s management of Rashford.

De Boer said: “It’s a pity that the manager is Mourinho because he’s an English player, you want to give him time and he can then make mistakes.

“But Mourinho is not like that. He wants to get results. If he has one or two poor games, he puts him out.” NEMANJA Matic believes victory against bitter rivals Liverpool is a timely boost ahead of United’s biggest game of the season against Sevilla tonight.

The Champions League last 16 clash is evenly poised ahead of the return leg after David De Gea inspired Jose Mourinho’s men to a goalless draw in Spain.

United have won three straight matches since the first-leg draw, with morale-boosting victories against Chelsea and Crystal Palace complemented by Saturday’s 2-1 triumph over Liverpool.

“Very important,” Matic said of the Liverpool win. “Very important for our confidence to win this sort of game.

“We won against Chelsea and, of course, on Saturday, so confidence will be on a high level, for sure.

“We have to see what we did well to continue like this.

“We have to know where we made mistakes to improve.

“The next game is very important for us, maybe the most important game of the season. We have to beat Sevilla to go through, so we give our best.”

Matic hopes to make the United fans proud again after a ruthless first-half display at Old Trafford, where things would have been far less nervy had Juan Mata managed to make it 3-0 with an acrobatic attempt that went narrowly wide.

“We managed to score two very quick goals thanks to Marcus Rashford, and after that we tried to defend our advantage,” added Matic.
