Jose keeps watch on Gunners star

- EXCLUSIVE By CIARAN KELLY

UNITED are monitoring Hector Bellerin’s situation at Arsenal, according to sources close to the player.

Those sources have told M.E.N. Sport that the Reds have made contact with the 22-year-old’s camp and have asked to be kept up to date on future developments ahead of a possible summer move.

The Spain international still has more than five years to run on his contract with Arsenal, but has repeatedly been linked with a move away from the Emirates since bursting onto the scene in 2014, with Juventus, Barcelona and City among his longterm admirers.

Although Jose Mourinho has yet to reach out to Bellerin, personally, it is understood that United have made their interest known in recent weeks and are in regular contact with his camp.

Veteran Antonio Valencia turns 33 in August and United are looking at potential long-term options at rightback after abandoning previous plans to sign a new left-back following Luke Shaw’s resurgence this season.

Bellerin has endured a difficult few months with supporters at the Emirates – even criticising Arsenal Fan TV – but MEN Sport understands he is committed to his contract. For now.

Right-back is one of a handful of positions Mourinho could address in the summer after also prioritising a replacement for skipper Michael Carrick, who is retiring at the end of the season.
