‘ZLATAN HAS BEEN FROZEN OUT’
EX-CHELSEA STRIKER CLAIMS MOURINHO IS ‘FREEZING OUT’ ZLATAN AT OLD TRAFFORD
ZLATAN Ibrahimovic is being frozen out at United, according to his friend and former Chelsea man Adrian Mutu.
The Swede hasn’t played for the Reds since the Boxing Day draw with Burnley at Old Trafford, despite recovering from injury.
Ibrahimovic was given a new United contract at the start of the season having rapidly progressed with his recovery from the knee ligament damage which ended his campaign early last season.
But, despite returning to training in February, the 36-year-old has yet to feature for United this year and was left out of the squad for the Sevilla game, despite training with the team the day before.
And former Chelsea striker Mutu, who is a friend of Ibrahimovic after their time playing together for Juventus, has given an update as to why his mate has not been involved.
“Mourinho doesn’t care about the performance, only the result,” Mutu told Telekom Sport Romania.
“I have information that Ibrahimovic is not injured, he’s just cold with Mourinho right now.”
Mutu has history with Mourinho during their Chelsea days.
In 2004 he clashed with the now United manager over a disagreement about an injury which resulted in a major falling out between the pair.
The former striker issued a public apology to Mourinho, but has since blasted the Portuguese as ‘fake.’
The United boss has already confirmed it is likely to be Ibrahimovic’s last season at the club.
“For Zlatan, we all think it’s his last season at Manchester United and it will be a very personal decision for him to play or to stop,” the United manager said.
“I think he won the right of choosing his life, his future. Such an amazing player and amazing career, only that awful injury in the wrong moment broke a fantastic couple of seasons he could and should have with us.”
