Online florists ‘ruined’ our Mother’s Day

CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN OF ROTTING FLOWERS

- By ALEXANDRA RUCKI

CUSTOMERS have criticised online florists for ‘ruining Mother’s Day’ after claiming to have received rotting and dead bouquets and late - and wrong deliveries.

James Dugmore said he was unable to spend March 11 with his mum as he was out of the country due to his job.

The airline crew worker said he ordered a ‘Pink Sienna Bouquet’ from online florist Delightful Bouquets on Friday, March 9, to be delivered two days later, on Mother’s Day.

James, 32, said the bouquet cost £25 and that he paid extra to add more flowers. He said the flowers did not arrive at his mum’s house in Leeds until Tuesday.

James said the bouquet had rotting, dead flowers in it - and that his mum burst into tears when she saw it.

“I told my mum to keep an eye out for them,” said James, who lives in Manchester city centre.

“They finally arrived on Tuesday. My mum burst into tears, some of the flowers were rotten and dead.

“They came wrapped in cellotape, not the pink tape in the picture. It ruined Mother’s Day.

“I can’t believe the state they were in.”

James said he contacted the website asking for a refund, but is yet to receive a response.

Another customer, who asked not to be named, said she was left disappointed with a bunch of flowers she ordered for her mum from eflorist. The woman, who lives in Ashton-underLyne, claimed the bouquet she received was completely different from the one in the images online - and several of the flowers were dead.

The woman told the M.E.N: “My mum was over for the weekend and my little girl was excited for the flowers to come.

“When they arrived, my mother was not impressed.”

Linda Bowerman, from Chadderton, Oldham, said she paid £25.99 for a ‘Pink Lady’ bouquet and £4.95 for a vase from eflorist.

Instead, she claims her diabetic mother, who lives in Derker, received a drooping bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates.

Linda said: “My mum is blind and a diabetic so loves the smell of fresh flowers, hence I went for the luxury size. What arrived on Mother’s Day was a poor effort, compared to the picture that was shown.

“There was no vase and instead a box of chocolates. It was not what I ordered for a diabetic.”

A spokeswoman for eflorist said: “We had a very intense Mother’s Day with a record breaking number of orders.

“Customer service has, in the last few days, been working on taking care of any disappointed customers, including refunding in the cases where we clearly did not live up to our promises.”

The M.E.N. has attempted to contact Delightful Bouquets numerous times for comment.
