CITY have been warned they will have to be perfect to overcome Liverpool in the Champions League.

The Premier League rivals were drawn together in the quarter-final ensuring one English team will reach the last four.

Liverpool are the only team to beat City in the league this season – securing a dramatic 4-3 win at Anfield in January.

And City director of football Txiki Begiristain insists Pep Guardiola will know the threat posed by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“In the Champions League there is no time for mistakes, everything has to work, you have to be almost perfect in both games,” he said. “We know the power and the strength of Liverpool – in the league they beat us away and we beat them at home.

“It’s a very difficult one. We like to travel and to go to another country in the Champions League, but it is what it is.

“We know each other very well, they are a very offensive team, the truth is it is going to be a great couple of games and we are going to see good football.”

City travel to Anfield on April 4 for the first leg and then host Liverpool at the Etihad on April 10.

Guardiola’s side were 5-0 winners when the sides met in September after Sadio Mane was sent off in the first half.

They can reach the semi-finals for only the second time in their history, after Manuel Pellegrini led them to the last four in 2016.
