Man, 27, facing child sex charges at court

A MAN has been charged with a string of child sexual exploitati­on offences in Bury.

Carl Hodgson, 27, of Jordan Street, Manchester, is accused of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, grooming a child, abduction of a child, and possession of indecent images. The offences all relate to one girl.

He appeared at Manchester Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody. This follows an ongoing investigat­ion into child sexual exploitati­on in Bury, which began last summer.

As part of the same inquiry, on Thursday this week a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inciting child sexual exploitati­on and has been bailed until mid-April.

Police said: “Carl Hodgson (06/04/1990) of Jordan Street, Manchester, has been charged with causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, grooming a child, abduction of a child, and possession of indecent images. The offences all relate to one girl. He appeared at Manchester Magistrate­s today, Friday, March 23, and has been remanded in custody.”
