Mourinho and Pog have ‘no problems’
VICTOR Lindelof insists there are ‘no problems’ between United manager Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba.
Mourinho substituted the French midfielder with the Reds trailing in their successive Premier League away defeats at Tottenham and Newcastle following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. Mourinho also dropped Pogba for the visit of Huddersfield between those fixtures.
Pogba started both Champions League round-of-16 ties against Sevilla on the bench and Mourinho decided against recalling him for the FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton last weekend.
Amid the tension, France coach Didier Deschamps has claimed Pogba ‘cannot be happy with what he is going through with his club’. Lindelof was asked about Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho in Sweden and dismissed suggestions there is a problem.
“I do not read anything, there are no problems there. That’s what I’ve got to say about it,” he told SportExpressen.
Lindelof joined United for an initial £30.9m in the summer but has struggled to adapt during his first season in English football.
The 23-year-old has started 21 matches and made three substitute appearances during a campaign of integration where he has failed to establish himself as a first-teamer.
“It’s my first season in the club so it’s very fun,” Lindelof added.
“I have played 24 matches in the world’s largest club, I am pleased with that.”
