UNITED SPECIAL Reds freeze season tickets for 7th year

- By JAMES ROBSON By JAMES ROBSON @jamesrobsonMEN

UNITED have frozen season ticket prices for the seventh year in a row.

The club have announced prices will remain fixed for the 2018-19 campaign, with the most expensive adult ticket costing £950 and the cheapest £532.

That is the equivalent of individual match tickets ranging from £50-£28.

United have also introduced a new youth pricing structure for supporters aged between 18-25 years.

Situated in the pitchside seating blocks of the Stretford End lower tier, tickets cost £285.

United underlined the enduring demand for tickets at Old Trafford during their most recent financial results, with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: “We were hoping to achieve 200,000 official members this season. I’m pleased to confirm we are currently at over 210,000 official members, which is 15 percent higher than our previous record of just over 180,000, which we achieved last season.

“It’s worth reiterating the importance of membership.

“In terms of match tickets, we will sell out all Premier League games exclusively to official members and as such the only way for a non-member to watch a match is by a match-by-match hospitality product.

“Our matchday VIP experience is on course for another record-breaking year.”

Whether that would be the case for a new state-of-the-art stadium could be another matter entirely. UNITED changed their stance over Jose Mourinho in the space of little over a month – paving the way for the summer overhaul he insists will be necessary to challenge City’s supremacy.

Over the space of a few weeks between December and January, the Reds boss cemented his place at Old Trafford when handed a one-year extension to his contract – and with it he gained the confidence to take on even the biggest names at United.

That is evident in his treatment of Paul Pogba since the turn of the year - dropping the club’s most expensive player of all time before publicly panning the majority of his squad.

Mourinho is convinced he has the support of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to carry out a summer of dramatic change following that critical period around the turn of the year.

High level sources at United had insisted before Christmas there was no hurry to address his contract that still had 18 months to run.

That was despite the Portuguese’s public flirtations with Paris St Germain, which looked like the actions of a man lobbying for a new deal.

By the end of January, a 12-month extension
