DIANNE BOURNE & KATIE FITZPATRICK WITH ALL THE INSIDE STORIES

PADDY McGuinnness’ wife Christine has spoken for the first time about getting their marriage back on track.

The couple’s relationship hit the headlines last month when Paddy was pictured arm-in-arm with All Saints star Nicole Appleton.

But Christine, 30, has now confirmed that the couple are “happier than ever” in a revealing chat as a guest presenter on Loose Women after a “really difficult” time.

In a discussion about how having children can change a relationship, Christine opened up about her and Paddy’s recent marital woes.

She said: “It’s been really difficult recently but in a positive way it has made me realise I want to spend more time with him, to try and do more things together.”

Talking about how their 11-year relationship had changed when she became a mum, Christine admitted she was now trying to get more of a balance between her mum role and working life.

She said: “I don’t regret putting all my focus on the children, but I hope my husband didn’t feel pushed out because he needs attention too.”

She added: “I just wanted to be a full-time stay at home mum, I’d waved my husband off to work, he fully focussed on work and it’s what we both wanted at the time.

“Only recently I’ve started thinking I wish he could stay at home a bit more. It’s taken this time to realise.

“But we’re happier than ever and it’s great that we’re putting the effort in. Working at it is quite good, it’s actually exciting.”

On the ITV daytime show Christine also spoke out about her four-and-ahalf year battle with anxiety after becoming a mum to the couple’s three children - twins Leo and Penelope, now four and a half, and youngest daughter Felicity, 18 months.

She said: “We all hear about postnatal depression but no one hears about post-natal anxiety, but it’s something I’ve experienced for four and a half years now.

“I made it my role to stay at home, do all the hospital appointments, do every breakfast, every bed time, I never really did anything for myself.”

She told her fellow panellists that she started her guest role on the Real Housewives of Cheshire as she “felt it was time to do something for myself.”
