A SHOPWORKER’s leg was broken in six places when a car drove into her leaving her pinned her against a wall.

Mother-of-two Tracey Ibbotson, 47, from Ramsbottom, was on her break at B&M Bargains when a Citroen C4 ploughed into her outside the shop in Bury on Saturday afternoon. Passersby had to push the car off till worker Tracey, who suffered six fractures to her right leg during the incident at Crostons retail park in Elton.

She was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital and later transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital.

Tracey, who has two children aged 14 and 19, has had her leg straightened and undergone a skin graft but faces more surgery.

Her father Kenneth, 72, told the M.E.N: “She’s conscious.

“She’s talking and she’s in good spirits.” He said his daughter told him the car ‘mounted the pavement’ before pinning her against the wall and that others had push the car away from his daughter.

A spokesman for GMP said at the time there was no suggestion the incident was a deliberate act. Photographs from eyewitnesses showed part of the car park immediately in front of the B&M bargains store cordoned off with an ambulance and a rapid response paramedic car present.

GMP confirmed they were called to reports of a car hitting a pedestrian at the retail park, which also contains an Aldi supermarket, at around 3pm on Saturday.

Police officers could be seen manning the cordon and keeping members of the public away as emergency services dealt with the incident.
