Lethal attacks look to go head-to-head

-

THE showdown between a Sharks side within touching distance of the top-six and the title-chasing visitors brings together two of the Premiership’s most lethal attacks with the likes of Denny Solomona and Marland Yarde squaring up to Elliot Daly and Christian Wade.

With just four games of the regular season remaining, every game now carries huge significance and the Sale boss says tomorrow’s match against Wasps promises to be the perfect match-up.

“It should be a great game,” said Steve Diamond.

“It’s a match between two good sides who play rugby the right way and I think it could be one of those games where it boils down to who makes the least mistakes. The pair of us are probably among the most entertaining sides in the Premiership, which isn’t a bad tag to have.

“We’re now in the last throes of the season and we have got everything to play for and there’s nothing better to look forward to than a big home game.

“We’ve trained well this week – there’s been good preparation and pretty much everyone is fit bar Will Addison, so we will be looking to put our strongest side out and I think they will be pretty much at full strength too.

“For us it’s a case of ensuring we try to get the basics right.

“We need to look to attack in the right areas of the field and to keep the ball, and if we can do that then it all bodes well for what should be a really exciting game.”

For the Sharks, the aim will be to continue the expansive, exciting rugby that has been the hallmark of the side over the past few months.

That impressive form, which has seen the side run in 15 tries in our last three Premiership outings, has provided proof positive of how the new-look Sharks side assembled by Diamond has found its collective feet. “It’s a bit like doing maths at school. You struggle for a while to grasp everything and then suddenly it all clicks and that’s what happened with us to an extent,” Diamond added. “At this stage of the season the message for us is that it’s one game at a time. “If we can win then great we’ll keep looking forward – if not then we’ll re-evaluate where we want to be.”
