Let’s Eat grandma in town tonight
DESPITE the phenomenally menacing name, Let’s Eat Grandma are not a scary band.
They are a duo whose experimental dream pop has made them one of the most talked-about exciting prospects over the past couple of years.
After the cult success of their debut album ‘I, Gemini,’ the British duo returned with the single ‘Hot Pink’, which was co-produced by SOPHIE and Faris Badwan.
Their latest song, Falling Into Me, is getting good reviews, and their second album ‘I’m All Ears’ will be out on June 29.
They’re performing a run of UK shows, including one tonight in Manchester at The Deaf Institute.
It’ll be the first chance to see the brand new live show from a pair – Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth – who have been making music together since they were 13 years old, when writing songs was a playtime activity.
In fact, the two friends go back a long way – they originally met in reception class.
But what about that weird name?
Well, they say it is taken from a joke about the importance of punctuation, and the allimportant comma.
Because there’s a big difference between ‘Let’s eat, grandma,’ and ‘Let’s eat grandma’!
Let’s Eat Grandma: The Deaf Institute, tonight, 7.30pm. Tickets, from £10, at www.thedeafinstitute. co.uk
