Ammies move step closer to promotion

- NON-LEAGUE By SHELDAN KEAY

SALFORD CITY moved one step closer to promotion from the National League North as they picked up a 1-0 win at home to Gainsborough Trinity.

Carl Piergianni got the only goal for the Ammies on the stroke of half-time to earn them all three points at the Peninsula Stadium.

It means that Salford stay three points clear at the top of the table with four games remaining this season.

STOCKPORT COUNTY kept up their great run of form as they made it six wins in a row after a 3-1 win at North Ferriby United.

Two goals from Matthew Warburton and a strike from Jason Oswell cancelled out the effort from North Ferriby by Lewis Collins, earning the Hatters the win. The victory leaves Stockport in fifth place, now with a six-point cushion on the teams outside the playoffs.

FC UNITED moved six points clear of the relegation zone after they earned a dramatic 2-0 win away from home against Tamworth.

Despite having Matthew Hughes sent off on 83 minutes, FC United score twice in the final five minutes through Craig Lindfield and Gerard Garner to earn the win and leave them in 15th.

CURZON ASHTON remain in relegation danger after they lost 2-0 at home to Brackley Town, meaning just goal difference continues to separate Curzon from the bottom three.

In the National League, MACCLESFIELD TOWN were denied a win as they conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 against Ebbsfleet United at the Kuflink Stadium.
