KNIFEMAN ALSO TRIED TO KILL ANOTHER MAN IN BRAWL AT CITY CENTRE VENUE
A MAN who stabbed an innocent father in the neck after a mass brawl in a nightclub is facing life in jail for murder.
Jordan Ross was knifed by Dorian Graham at Suburbia, off Deansgate, in Manchester. Graham has now been found guilty of murder - and the attempted murder of another man - following a monthlong Manchester Crown Court trial.
Dad-of-one Jordan, 24, from Birmingham, visited Manchester with a group of friends for a night out on September 30.
A disturbance broke out in the packed bar area of the basement club at around 2.40am. One of Jordan’s group appeared to ‘strike out’ at another man.
Graham became embroiled in the fight. He was seen making a ‘flicking gesture’ with his right arm, which prosecutors claimed was him pulling out a knife.
The club descended into mayhem, with glass bottles and chairs being thrown.
Revellers began to film what was happening on their phones. The footage would later prove crucial to police and prosecutors.
One such video, prosecutors said, showed Graham pulling back his right arm and striking towards Jordan.
He was stabbed once in the neck, suffering an injury which proved fatal.
CCTV from the club showed Graham had a knife in his hand.
Further footage showed him stabbing another man, Christopher Smith. Mr Smith was knifed in the neck and back, but survived.
Jordan stumbled out of the club on to John Dalton Street before his friends flagged down a police car, but he collapsed shortly afterwards. Jordan was pronounced dead at 3.53am.
Graham and his friend, Demetrius Thompson, left the club through a fire exit which led on to Deansgate, passing the scene where Jordan was being helped.
Graham suffered a serious hand injury during the incident. He was arrested days later on October 2 after he was found at his girlfriend’s house hiding in the loft.
Graham was charged with the murder of Jordan Ross and the attempted murder of Christopher Smith.
He denied both offences, but was found guilty on both counts yesterday.
Thompson was found not guilty of assisting an offender. He earlier admitted violent disorder.
Graham, 30, of Hamilton Grove, Old Trafford, and Thompson, 22, of Longport Avenue, Didsbury, will be sentenced tomorrow.
