A WOMAN was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Hulme.

The 63-year-old woman was left with a serious head injury following the collision which took place on Monton Street at around 9pm on Sunday – and police are now appealing for witnesses.

Police say the grey Audi A4 involved had been driving along Moss Lane East and turned right onto Monton Street. The woman was struck by the vehicle as it travelled towards Great Western Street.

The driver remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

Pc Paul Hailwood, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the woman and her family as she receives treatment in hospital. Part of Monton Street was closed for over five hours while investigation work was carried out. Our enquiries to establish the exact circumstances around this collision remain ongoing.
