LIVERPOOL are still waiting on Mohamed Salah’s fitness ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with City.

The player of the year contender scored the opening goal in the 3-0 Champions League win last week and has 15 goals in 14 games in 2018.

But City could be boosted by his absence, with Jurgen Klopp unsure if he will be available to play after missing the Merseyside derby at the weekend.

“No real clue at the moment because we have to wait a little bit,” he said ahead of the game.

“We will see in five hours until we train and we’ll know who is involved in that. It’s rather yes than no, but then we have to wait for the reaction and we’ll make a decision.”

Emre Can is also struggling to make the game, but Salah’s absence will be more concerning for Liverpool.

Former striker Robbie Fowler believes the team are a completely different proposition when the Egyptian does not start.

“Obviously, Salah will be the key on Tuesday in the quarter-final second leg,” he said.

“If he’s fit, then that is a massive weapon. If he’s not, then we saw in the derby how Klopp’s team will struggle to find any pace or penetration on the break.”

For City, Sergio Aguero will be looking to start his first game in more than a month to fire the Blues into the semi-finals.
