THIS is the moment police raided a Tameside house before finding a ‘professional’ cannabis farm inside.

Officers smashed their way into the house in Ashton-under-Lyne.

They discovered dozens of plants growing in three specially adapted bedrooms.

The electricity metre had also been bypassed, officers said.

Pc Steve Naylor, neighbourhood beat officer for Ashton Hurst, described the operation as ‘professional.’ He said it had been built using ‘expert’ and expensive equipment, which has been seized and will be destroyed, along with the plants.

Pc Naylor said: “This warrant comes of the back of another successful warrant two weeks ago in Ashton Hurst. Although the two address are not connected, it shows that the team is acting on the intelligence provided by the local community and will continue to act on any intelligence.

“These farms are not only illegal, they are a safety risk to neighbouring properties. The financial gains from these farms have been known to fund serious organised crime.”

It is understood 55 plants were found. The street value is not yet known. No arrests have been made.

Last month, officers raided a house on nearby Kings Road and seized more than 250 plants.
