Roughyeds snap up Trinity youngsters

- RUGBY LEAGUE

OLDHAM have brought in two young Wakefield Trinity players on loan for a month – including a familiar face for Roughyeds fans.

Full-back Luke Hooley featured six times for the club during a similar loan spell at the end of last season, scoring one try and kicking 18 goals.

He will be joined at the Vestacare Stadium by Trinity team-mate Lee Kershaw, an 18-year-old winger.

“We welcome both Luke and Lee to Oldham and we are looking forward to having them with us,” said Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton.

”We know Luke well, of course, because of the time he spent with us towards the end of last season. He will be an excellent addition to the squad, as he was last year.

“Lee is a strong-running winger, highly rated by Wakefield, and we are looking forward to seeing him in action at League 1 level.”

Hooley reflects fondly on his previous spell with the club and is excited at rejoining the Roughyeds.

He said: “I really enjoyed my time at Oldham. It was great experience for me and it’s good to be back.

”I’m really looking forward to playing some regular rugby again, week in and week out.”

Both players are available for selection in Scott Naylor’s squad for Sunday’s trip to Keighley Cougars.

Oldham have confirmed that the Challenge Cup tie with Hull KR on April 22 will be played at last season’s home Bower Fold, Stalybridge.
