Teacher accused of sex with boy
TEENAGER GIVES EVIDENCE TO COURT AS WOMAN, 53, DENIES SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH A CHILD
A TEENAGER who says he was 15 when he had sex with his teacher told a trial it was ‘every lad’s fantasy.’
Deborah Lowe, 53, of Elmsbed Caravan Park in Poynton, Cheshire, denies one count of sexual activity with a child and five counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust.
The teacher admits having sex with the boy, but insists he had left school and was 17 when it happened.
On the second day of her trial at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, a police video interview of the alleged victim was played to the jury in which he insisted the sexual relationship began while he was aged 15 at school.
The teenager told police: “It started when I was about 15. I was like generally a flirty person, just messing about with people and that. Just having a joke with the teachers and staff.”
He said that ‘everybody knew we could go to Miss Lowe,’ adding: “If people had a problem you could go to her.”
The boy said they exchanged numbers and the jury heard she called him that night.
He described how the pair had a 25 minute phone sex session, where she is said to have sent him erotic pictures of her without a bra, before going on to sleep together at her home in Poynton.
The boy said: “I was a little bit creeped out, a little bit worried. I don’t know why. I didn’t speak to nobody for a little bit. We got back to talking again. She invited me around to hers. She would come and pick me up and I would have sex with her.”
He said at first he was concerned about ‘the age thing’ but later reasoned that ‘age was just a number.’
He said he blocked the defendant on Facebook and Instagram and said that she reacted by sending him cards to his home address saying she was missing him.
The court heard he got in touch with her later and had sex with her ‘a couple of times since then.’
The boy said: “Obviously, it’s like every lad’s fantasy isn’t it, to have sex with a teacher.”
The defendant, the jury heard, told him ‘you make me so horny’
during the phone sex. He conceded he ‘didn’t know what to say,’ adding: “I really didn’t say much but she was proper going on with it.” The boy told the police officer it felt ‘awkward’ when he saw Miss Lowe in school afterwards and that he tried to ignore her. Describing having sex at Miss Lowe’s home, he said she told him to remove his clothes although she wasn’t ‘barking orders.’ He said the second occasion they had sex was at her house but he said he also recalled on another occasion ‘she came round to mine.’ The boy described another occasion where Miss Lowe ‘scratched my back open’ during sex. Miss Lowe bought him a jacket for Christmas, he told the court. Under cross-examination by Neil Usher, defending, the witness admitted he had contacted The Sun newspaper with the story but denied ‘cynically and dishonestly exploiting this foolish fantasy that the older lady had for a 17-yearold boy.’ Proceeding
