I WRITE with great concern over our children’s care, mostly in deprived areas.

Some children going to school without food or clean clothes, probably very depressed - I’m sorry but I call that bad parenting.

What worries me most is they are being used as a political tool, making it the state’s fault for not giving more benefits, Conservative or Labour.

I agree parents find it very hard to manage with social media and today’s lifestyle - its hard, even working parents struggle. But we love a good welfare state in our country but not enough to give our deprived children the things they need to progress in education.

But honestly, not to feed young children or wash them and wash their clothes is terrible, passing it on to teachers when its the parents’ fault.

Priorities must be rent paid, food paid, what is left they decide how to spend.

If I had sent my children to school hungry and dirty I would have been reported to social workers and then named and shamed.

We’re passing our parental duties on to our hard working teachers. It has to stop and money put into training and helping these parents manage to feed and clean these poor children in deprived areas.

Come on parents, a pan of porridge, some toast, a smile, it can’t be that bad. If it is, ask for help, give your kids some praise. Mrs Halloran, Northenden
