SERGIO Aguero hopes to be back in training in “ten days”, according to his father.

And that has raised hopes that Kun could yet play again this season, despite the prognosis being that he will be out for a month, leaving him hanging on 199 club goals.

Aguero underwent keyhole surgery in Barcelona earlier this week, and City have already said it is “likely” his campaign is over.

But his father Leonel del Castillo reckons Kun will be back in training in ten days, and will be fine to play in the World Cup with Argentina.

The City striker initially suffered the injury in training last month, but it was aggravated by Ashley Young’s high challenge in the derby.

Aguero came off the bench days later as the Blues tried to over-turn their Champions League quarterfinal first-leg deficit against Liverpool, but broke down again.

He tweeted on Tuesday that he was “Recovering from an arthroscopy on my knee. Fully motivated to get back soon to the field.”

City said that Aguero “is likely to be out for the remainder of the campaign after the minor operation.”

But his father said that it had been a snap decision to have the surgery done: “It was all very fast. My wife sent him a message in the morning and he told her he was in hospital to be operated on,” he said.

“Everything went fine and in around 10 days’ time he should be back to training.”
