Hill has no friends in battle to avoid drop

- FOOTBALL By SHELDAN KEAY

ROCHDALE boss Keith Hill says he’ll have to put friendship aside when his team welcome Bradford City to the Crown Oil Arena today.

Hill’s side are a point adrift from safety in the League One table, and the Rochdale manager insists it will be strictly business when his team take on Simon Grayson’s Bradford side.

“I’m looking forward to it. I think Simon Grayson has a season ticket here he’s been here that much recently,” he said.

“I like Simon. I think he’s done a marvellous job wherever he’s been, and it looks like he’s turning the tide there now. It’s going to be a good game and hopefully our players will turn up with a similar sort of performance.”

OLDHAM ATHLETIC midfielder Dan Gardner says he will use his previous heartbreak as a motivator to avoid relegation this season.

Latics have another crucial match today in their battle to beat the drop at AFC Wimbledon.

Oldham are currently fifth from bottom, one point and one place above the League One relegation zone.

Gardner joined Latics last summer after his previous club Chesterfield were relegated to League Two, and the midfielder is determined not to allow that to happen again with his current side.

“For me personally I never want to get relegated again, it’s a horrible feeling so I’ll be doing everything I can and I’m sure the lads will as well,” he said.

WIGAN ATHLETIC could have their promotion back to the Championship confirmed today when they travel to Fleetwood Town.

Already-relegated BURY will try to pick up just their eighth win of the season in their visit to Shrewsbury Town.

In the Championship, BOLTON WANDERERS will look to ease their relegation worries when they welcome top-of-thetable Wolves to the Macron Stadium.
