Title-winning Blues stars dominate the PFA team of the year

- By SIMON BAJKOWSKI @ManCityMEN

DAVID Silva and Sergio Aguero are both in a PFA Premier League Team of the Year dominated by City stars.

Five Blues made the XI, with Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi and Kevin de Bruyne also making the list from the titlewinning City side.

Completing the team are United’s David de Gea, Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen, Christan Eriksen and Harry Kane, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

The sheer number of City players in a team picked from all 20 clubs reflects the outstanding season from Pep Guardiola’s men, who have clinched the title with five games to play and are on course to break the Premier League records for most points and goals in a single campaign.

It is the second time Silva has been named in the team during his eight years in England, and a first for Aguero in his seven seasons at the Blues.

City have also dominated the PFA individual nominations.

Leroy Sane, De Bruyne and Silva are all up for Player of the Year, while Sane, Raheem Sterling and Ederson are in contention to be named Young Player.

While not a fan of individual awards, Guardiola would like to see his players recognised.

He said: “I would like all my players to be there because I know how I appreciate them but other players from other teams deserve to be there as well. One player playing good depends on the other ones.”
