All-conquering City set to reach new highs

IT has already been a memorable season for City.

Pep Guardiola’s group have made it into the record books by clinching Premier League glory with five games to spare (joint-fastest title win), winning 18 straight league games (most consecutive wins) and taking three points from every away match before the draw with Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve (11 consecutive away wins, May 21 to December 31, 2017).

And just because the title has been confirmed, it does not mean the season is over.

City still have to complete fixtures against Swansea (H), West Ham (A), Huddersfield (H), Brighton (H) and Southampton (A).

There are at least eight more Premier League records the Blues can break or equal if things go their way in those five matches.

Take a look at what they need to do to make more history, ranked roughly from the easiest to the most unlikely... THE prolific 2009/10 Chelsea team hold this record with a final tally of +71, but City are not far behind. They are on +68, which means they have to score four more than they concede to break the record. BACK to Carlo Ancelotti’s 09/10 Chelsea we go, who scored 103 goals in their title-winning campaign rounded off with an 8-0 victory over Wigan on their final day. City are on 93, which means they need to score 10 to equal and 11 to break the record. They have averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.
