Blues beaming with pride after Premier glory
CITY’S players finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy on Sunday – and the club marked the success in a very special way.
Just hours after the goalless draw with Huddersfield, City arranged for images of the title-winning players to be projected onto personal locations in each of their home towns.
In Brussels a picture of Vincent Kompany was projected onto a block of flats alongside the words ‘Felicitations Vincent,’ while a picture of youngster Phil Foden was beamed on to Stockport Viaduct.
City’s chief operating officer, Omar Berrada, said: “This was an ambitious and exciting project that we have been delighted to reveal over the last 24 hours. Sunday was a great day in Manchester as we lifted the Premier League trophy and we wanted to do something that would resonate with our players and extend these celebrations to their home towns.
“The reactions from the players have been fantastic – they have loved seeing their Premier League achievement being marked in such special locations and allowing local fans to join in. I would also like to thank the friends and families of the players for their help in making this project possible.”
Fans enjoyed the clever video, with one tweeting: “Class act from a class club”, while another joked: “It’s funny how much time you have to plan the celebration when you win the league with five games to play”.
