A MANCHESTER woman appeared in a Spanish court in handcuffs accused of trying to mow down her former husband’s new girlfriend.

Kemi Coaker, 29, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide after witnesses said a car had deliberately mounted a pavement and hit 23-yearold bar worker Meghan Tattersill.

As Meghan lay in the road in Magaluf, Majorca, the small white car sped off. Half an hour later, police found a car of that description occupied by two women 3km away.

The passenger has been told she will not face any charges. It is believed Kemi, who is from Manchester, had been estranged from husband Andrew Coaker, 39, for a year.

They had been married for about two years and he started a new relationship with Meghan in February or March.

Kemi hid beneath a grey hoodie as she was marched into court in Palma, in handcuffs, with her shoe laces removed. Meghan’s injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening. Her family from Wetherby, West Yorks, are thought to have flown out to be with her.

A friend described her as a ‘beautiful, kind and sound’ girl.

The male friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Meghan was getting on with her life and enjoying herself out there in Majorca, she is not a home wrecker.”

Kemi was freed on bail, but banned from leaving Majorca or going within 500m of Meghan.
